Photography Degree Information
Students at Loyola may complete a major in visual arts with a concentration in photography, a major in visual arts with a concentration in InterArts, an interdisciplinary major, a minor in photography, a minor in InterArts, or take photography courses as electives.
Visual Arts Major, Photography Concentration
Requirements for the Major

- PT 270 - Introduction to Digital Photography
- PT 300 - Photocraft or PT 301 - Photographic Vision: Tools, Techniques, and Theories

- SA 224 - Two-Dimensional Design or SA 227 - 3-D Design in Art and Engineering
- One AH 300-level course

Interdisciplinary Visual Arts Major
Interdisciplinary majors allow students to combine interests in two different disciplines, enabling students to individualize their curriculum and help prepare them for our interdisciplinary world. Disciplines recently combined with visual arts in this way include biology, classics, Communication and Media, English, history, and writing. It is possible, however, to combine the visual arts with any other discipline participating in Loyola's interdisciplinary studies option.

Notes:
- Visual arts majors with a concentration in InterArts cannot minor in photography.
- Visual arts majors with concentrations in art history and studio arts must take an additional photography class to replace PT 270 in the photography minor.
- Visual arts majors with concentrations in art history and studio arts cannot count AH 350/PT 350/SA 350 towards the upper-level requirement in the photography minor.
