Emergency Information

Weather Closure: Loyola campuses are closed Sunday, Jan. 25, through Monday, Jan. 26

All 51¶ÌÊÓÆµ campuses will be closed Sunday, Jan. 25, through Monday, Jan. 26. The closure is effective from 12:01 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, through 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Classes

All Monday classes are canceled and will not be held virtually.

Employees

Non-essential employees who have not been instructed to report to campus are not expected to work remotely.

Employees should bring their laptops home, if possible, in case of an extended closure where remote work becomes necessary. Essential employee expectations will be communicated by their supervisor. This includes otherwise non-essential employees who agree to work in an essential capacity during the unscheduled closing at the request of their supervisor. All other non-essential employees may not report to the physical work location during the closure. See Section 4.5 of the Staff & Administrator Policy Manual for additional information.

Dining

Iggy’s Market, Boulder Garden Café, and Boulder 2.0 will be open Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Starbucks will be open each day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Sellinger Express and Thea Bowman Express stores will remain open, though stock may be limited.

All other dining locations will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Shuttle Service

There will be no shuttle service on Sunday or Monday. Safe Rides may be limited during the closure.

FAC

The FAC will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Athletics

All Loyola Athletics events have been moved or postponed. Check for details.

Mass

All Sunday Masses in Alumni Memorial Chapel are canceled. A 4 p.m. Mass will be held on Saturday.

MLK Convocation

The 33rd annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Reception & Convocation, which was scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26, has been postponed (due to the upcoming weather forecast) and will be rescheduled for a new date featuring Carla Hayden, Ph.D., later this semester. Be watching for more information.

Library

Loyola/Notre Dame Library hours will be closed Sunday, Jan. 25, through Monday, Jan. 26. Staff will not be working remotely on Monday.

Students and faculty: Academic continuity

There are several options for students and faculty to stay connected and maintain coursework when classes are canceled and campus is closed.

  • Faculty members are encouraged to develop a plan and inform students so that they understand course expectations. Please review the Maintaining Class During University Closures page on the academic affairs website for information on inclement weather, options for instructional continuity, and guidance from the Faculty Handbook.
  • Students are encouraged to consult the syllabus, course Moodle page, and email communication from their instructors.
