Posting Policy

A. Purpose Statement
The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that departments can publicize campus events and activities to ensure campus participation and, at the same time, protect the University鈥檚 physical assets. These guidelines outline requirements and expectations for all signs, notices, flyers, posters, banners, table tents, freestanding signs, indoor displays, and outdoor displays posted on 51短视频鈥檚 property.
B. Students, Faculty, Staff, and Administrators Responsibilities
- Students are required to follow the Student Posting Policy that can be found on the Clubs & Organizations Website.
- Faculty, Staff, and Administrators should follow the guidelines below to ensure a successful event while protecting university assets.
- Both print and digital materials should follow the brand guidelines maintained by the Office of Marketing and Communications.
C. Guidelines
1. Signs

Painters tape (blue and green) are the only materials allowed to attach signs, unless using push-pins to post on appropriate bulletin boards. The use of Duct, Scotch, or Masking Tape, glue, and paste is strictly prohibited.

Approved posting locations include: the limestone walls by the Student Center elevator, the posting strips along the student center ramp, and any bare, unpainted concrete walls in the Student Center or other campus buildings. Posters/flyers hung elsewhere will be removed and discarded.

Signs may be posted for up to two weeks and should contain the name of the sponsoring organization/department, the date, time, and location of the event.

Flyers, posters, stickers, and banners may not be placed on the ground as this poses a safety hazard.

The Visual and Performing Arts Department has exclusive rights for postings in the DeChiaro Art Gallery hallway and therefore, no other organizations/departments may post there.

Materials promoting the use of alcohol or other controlled substances, including activities at bars/clubs where alcohol is served; as well as materials slandering, ridiculing, or maligning an individual or their family, are prohibited.

All signs and displays must be in line with the Jesuit, Catholic mission of Loyola University Maryland and must comply with all existing University policies.

Materials to be displayed in the residence halls must also be approved by the Office of Residence Life and Housing. Please note that each department or organization is responsible for printing and providing the physical flyers for posting in the residence halls.

Materials to be displayed on tables inside of any Dining Services location must also be approved by Dining Services.
2. Digital Signage

All digital signage must be sent to Event Services at digitalsignage@loyola.edu for review and posting. Digital flyers can remain in circulation for a maximum of two weeks.

Digital Signage is encouraged to support University sustainability initiatives and maximize effectiveness.

Digital Signage to be displayed in the residence halls must also be approved by Residence Life and Housing.
3. Freestanding Signs, Indoor Displays, Outdoor Displays (including campus decorations), Banners, and Chalking (for academic purposes only)
- Any freestanding signs (including A-frame boards), indoor/outdoor displays (including campus decorations), or banners must be approved by Event Services, in consultation with the appropriate campus administrators.
- All requests for campus displays or decorations must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the display on The Bridge. Requests must include a detailed description of the sponsoring campus organization, the purpose of the display, and the display's physical appearance including the dimensions, and the time frame of the display.
- Mini flag displays on the academic quadrangle are not permitted.
- Up to six lawn/yard signs are permitted at a time on the Quad.
- Freestanding signs, indoor/outdoor displays, or campus decorations may be posted for up to two days (48 hours). The sponsoring campus organization is responsible for install and removal of these signs/displays/decorations. [Note: University reserves the right to request early removal due to University events or service delivery requirements.]
- Any freestanding signs, indoor/outdoor displays, or campus decorations in Boulder Atrium (Interior), the Maryland Hall Circle (exterior), or the patio terrace outside of McManus Theatre (exterior) must be coordinated through Event Services.
- Chalking is generally permitted only for academic purposes and must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance through Event Services. Residence Life and Housing may receive approval for limited exceptions, provided all applicable university guidelines are followed. Approved chalking is permitted only on horizontal, washable concrete surfaces and is prohibited on all vertical surfaces, including building walls, brick, columns, and steps.
- Banners will be removed at the end of the semester. Banners installed on the Maryland Hall bridge may be removed after one month. Posting and removal schedule will depend on campus activities and demand for the use of this space. [Street and light pole banners, DGA fencing and other areas on campus are reserved for University communication and branding.]
- Helium balloons are prohibited in Boulder Atrium and McGuire Atrium for fire safety purposes.
4. Other
- Paints, markers, and glitter (even eco-friendly) should not be used on any surface.
- Materials may not be placed in any one area in excessive numbers and may not cover other signs.
- The only exceptions are the Fine Arts Department (McManus Lobby Window) and walls covered with white board paint where dry erase markers are available.
- The sponsoring department or organization is responsible for removing all posters, flyers, and other promotional materials within 48 hours of the conclusion of the advertised event, program, initiative, or campaign. Departments and organizations are encouraged to designate an individual responsible for ensuring timely removal and compliance with this policy. Recycling and reusing signage that is not date-specific is strongly encouraged.
- Maliciously destroying/defacing others' publicity will result in either administrative or disciplinary action.
D. Non-Compliance
- Any materials posted in a manner that does not respect these Guidelines may be removed and recycled without notice.
- Administrative and academic departments may be held financially responsible for the cost of repairing or restoring surfaces damaged as a result of improper posting.
- Failure to comply with these Guidelines, including repeated violations or failure to remove materials within the required timeframe, may result in the temporary suspension of posting privileges. Continued patterns of non-compliance will result in written notification of the loss of posting privileges for a period determined by the University.
