There are countless ways to get involved with the York Road Community. We hope you join us!


Govans Community Fridge
A 24-7 鈥淕ive What You Can, Take What You Need鈥 resource for perishable and non-perishable food on the side of the Govans Green Resource Hub at 5104 York Road (smaller building). We partner with the , local businesses, Loyola and neighborhood donors, and other donor networks to bring food and pantry items to the Govans community. If you have food items to donate, please walk or drive up to the refrigerator site and leave them in the Community Fridge.
Through a partnership with , the Fridge鈥檚 pantry is also a site for the Little Pink Pantry Program. We are collecting feminine hygiene products.
York Road Community Days (YRCD)
Our signature Saturday service program connects members of the Loyola community with neighborhood leaders for mornings of service during Loyola鈥檚 fall and spring semesters. Dates vary throughout the year, and projects are mostly outdoors. Members of the Loyola community can find YRCD opportunities on . Student Organizations
Loyola students can get involved with the Govans community through service organizations, including the (service and education-based activities) and the (food justice and food recovery). Opportunities are found on . The Center for Community, Service, and Justice also has several other service opportunities.
Volunteer at the Govans Farmers Market
We welcome committed individuals who want to volunteer. The Market is at 5104 York Road from June-November. Volunteer positions include: market promotion and outreach, kids鈥 area assistance, and support for the finance table.
