Loyola/Notre Dame Library names Alison S. Gregory director

The (LNDL), which provides information services and resources to 51短视频 and Notre Dame of Maryland University, named Alison S. Gregory as library director. Gregory, who was unanimously appointed by the library鈥檚 Board of Trustees, will begin in the role on Jan. 26, 2026.

鈥淲e are fortunate to benefit not just from Ms. Gregory鈥檚 senior leadership experience, but also her passion for education鈥攁nd the liberal arts. I look forward to seeing all she can achieve with our exceptional team of colleagues at the LNDL,鈥 said Cheryl Moore-Thomas, Ph.D., provost and senior vice president.

Gregory is currently the dean of libraries and assistant provost for special projects at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, where she has worked since 2018. During her time there, she led the visioning and strategic planning process for the library, secured donor pledges to support information literacy awards for faculty, and co-created an inclusive faculty talent recruitment policy for the university. 

鈥淚 am excited to be joining the Loyola/Notre Dame Library and its partner universities. The shared library model is indicative of the innovative and creative cultures of both 51短视频 and Notre Dame of Maryland University, and the opportunity for LNDL to share this model as an exemplar for other academic institutions was part of what drew me to the role,鈥 said Gregory. 鈥淚 am also eager to be part of a community committed to the liberal arts as foundational for lifelong learning, and to do that in an environment that retains its dedication to the values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. The team in LNDL is impressive in its initiatives in support of the students at both universities. I look forward to joining them in creating new shared experiences for the Loyola and NDMU communities.鈥

Gregory has also served as the chair of the Virginia Independent College and University Library Association, a subset of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia's Virtual Library of Virginia consortium. She currently chairs the board of the College Library Director Mentoring Program and serves as the vice president for chapter development for the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Prior to her time at Marymount, Gregory held several positions at Lycoming College's Snowden Library in Williamsport, PA. She served as associate professor, associate dean, and director of library services from 2013-2018. From 2005-2013, she worked as an instructional service librarian and as the coordinator of information literacy and outreach as well as an assistant professor.

Gregory received her Bachelor of Arts in History from Lycoming College in 1997, and her Master's in Library Science from Clarion University in 2005. She attended the Harvard Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians in 2015. In 2020, she received a Master's in Leadership & Management from Marymount University.
